This brief was supposed to run throughout the entire of my FMP and be a good platform to really go to town with all the design issues I wanted to explore. I really don't feel like I've managed to accomplish what I set out to do with this. The fact that it was supposed to run throughout my whole FMP meant that a lot of the time I prioritised other briefs before it because they had a shorter deadline. I only really started to produce visual work for it during Easter when I developed the diagrams for it. The design direction I took for it, seemed appropriate because I wanted a good contrast for the images, and also I wanted it to fit within an office environment. I didn't want it to stand out massively because I wanted it to be a bit more subliminal and the repetition of seeing it everywhere would help people remember it. The direction seems to get contrasting opinions, some people really liked it and thought it was appropriate. Others thought it was boring. I guess this is something that is quite common with information design, but it's my job as a designer to reach out to people and not make it boring. When I got that feedback I became really disheartened because I could completely see their point but evaluating the situation/time I had left there was no way I could manage to change it in time. Because of this the last few bits of deliverables I did, really had no passion put into them, and because of this I think they lack depth. The range of deliverables was not extensive enough either.
I have mixed feelings about this brief. I like some of the stuff I produced for it, and think it would work in the real world. Other parts I feel like I really didn't push enough. I think this brief had massive potential and I'm really disappointed that I didn't deliver on it. Generally I don't tend to return to briefs once I've submitted them but this is one where post-college I'm going to go back to.
