Embossed cover, this took a lot of effort. We did so many attempts and it just wouldn't work. Eventually we cut the letters out of mount board and rolled it through. It worked but it's not strong enough to stay like that, I think it'll come out quite quickly.
We tried foiling the back, like how it will actually be but because of the stock we used it wouldn't take the ink. The foil was really bitty and not that good. So instead we used vinyl to show where it will go.
We met up with photography and showed them the book. We're still waiting for a few bits and pieces in terms of titles and image captions which I have been chasing up (see project file for all relating things). They seem happy with what they saw. We talked them through the spreads and they raised initial concerns, which we have noted down. We have also tried to push some of our design decisions, I think for some of them they don't feel that comfortable with but I think it's important to make small risks otherwise it's going to be far too dry and the book won't be paced very well. We need enough variety to pull the reader through and also be able to distinguish different photographers work. They have now taken the mock up with them to go through and check.
