Fixed-ish:
Re-cut and re-bound the diary so that the tabs are less of a problem. Unfortunately because I'd already bound and trimmed it once, it's meant the trimming I've had to do again to tidy it up is a bit tight. Also the laminated tabs are a bit of a pain when it comes to trimming. I had a blunder with the cover as well, I didn't measure it properly when I cut it due to sleep deprivation. On the whole this deliverable has been a massive error. Hopefully photoshop can fix some of the problems when it comes to portfolio, I'll just have to re-do the final or makesure no one ever see's the real one.
Massive mistake:
I'd originally planned on binding this book with a saddle stitch. Usually when you do this you have to trim the outside edge so it's a tidy edge. << Realised this way too late and had an "oh my god I am so dumb" moment. I've used tabs on my book so obviously I can't trim them down. This means that with this kind of bind the edges are all jaggedy. The only way I can think about adjusting the design to use this binding method would to be work out how much of a creep there would be and shift the letter that amount on the tab, and extend the bleed. I'm not doing that. Instead I'm changing the bind and cutting my book to pieces so I can wire bind it. Ideally I would have liked to reprint the book to do this because it would mean the alignment would be better but getting a slot in print is like finding a leprechaun at the moment and also I can;t really afford to be paying out again. So I'm going to have to work with what I've got.
